Monday was my last p-day with Sorella Johnson. We went and played laser tag with the Anziani, which was super fun. It was also our last day with one of the Anziani as well so we hung out with them and got in some last errands. Later that night we started packing for Sorella Johnson. We stayed up pretty late because she was leaving soon.
Tuesday we got up and had our last District Council all together which was really fun. After that we went and had pranzo at a member's house so they could say good bye to Sorella Johnson. We went and said goodbye to a few more people and then Tuesday night we had English Course. We also stayed up late finishing packing and having our last night together.
Wednesday we woke up at 5:30, got ready, and then went to the train station. Sorella Johnson got on the train at 7:20 and headed to Rome. I waited around at the station with a couple missionaries until my new companion arrived. She got there around 9:30. She and I and another Sorella that was waiting for her new companion (she wasn't going to arrive until the evening) went to our apartment and had lunch, unpacked a little bit, did some contacting, and then we went back to the station to pick up the other Sorella's companion.
Thursday we had studies and then from Thursday thru Sunday we did a lot of inactive member finding. We are trying really hard to get through the member list. We tried to visit people and introduce them to Sorella Barnes, who is my new companion. Sorella Johnson also trained Sorella Barnes so that makes us "Mission Sisters", which is cool.
Sunday was church and then we went and had pranzo with a couple members. That night we went and did caroling with just all the missionaries here in Palermo. It was a lot of fun and a really good moment for me. Usually we have other members there who lead the music and join us in singing, but none of them came because it has been really bad weather. Another Sorella and I were switching off with leading and at one point I was leading the music. I was leading all these missionaries in the songs in front of this really pretty building and with all the lights right in the center of Palermo. I was just overcome with gratitude and joy because it was so beautiful and I felt so grateful to be here and to be spending my Christmas here. There was a lot of people who stopped and sang a long with us and watched us and took videos. I was really happy and definitely needed that moment.
Monday wasn't our p-day because our p-day was going to be Christmas Day. We did some contacting, and went to a couple lessons.
Tuesday we had District Council and went down to the Center and we were going to do some more caroling but the weather was really bad and there weren't very many people out so we just did some finding. We walked down the streets talking to people along the way. It was so beautiful with all of the lights and the people are all so happy and friendly this time of year. My companion and I went and bought each other gifts and put them in stockings for Christmas, just trying to feel more at home. We went to an old folks home and sang to them, which was really nice to be with them on Christmas Eve. After that we walked around for three hours doing some more contacting. My feet were very tired.
This morning we woke up and opened our little stockings and then we went and watched "It's A Wonderful Life" with the Anziani at the church. It was really good! Then we went over to Bishop's house today for Christmas pranzo and there was so much food. There was like four different courses. I was so full but it was a lot of fun. We were there with Bishop and his wife and his sister and her husband and their two kids. It was so much fun, they joke around a lot and made me feel right at home. I am so grateful for the people here and for the Lord and for what He has done to bless me.
Merry Christmas!! Love you all!
Vi Voglio bene!
